As LIFT-DC’s Operations Associate, Monique supports the Executive Director, the program and development teams, as well operation of the DC/National office. Her goal is to set a warm and inviting atmosphere for staff, members and all guests entering our space.
Monique LIFTs because she comes from a family of phenomenal women who LIFT and have embraced service as an integral part of how they show up in the world. Monique’s grandmother, who was a key influence in her life, served the homeless and never met a person she didn’t try to uplift in some way. She taught her children and grandchildren to do the same. Monique now proudly walks in her grandmother’s footsteps to LIFT whenever and wherever she can!
Before coming to LIFT, Monique worked in Long Term Health Care, as an Executive Assistant at Washington Center for Aging Services and later as a Volunteer Coordinator with Unique Rehab and Health Center. Her work in DC nursing homes also sparked a deeper interest in the nonprofit sector. In July 2018, Monique completed participation in a Senior Management Cohort, sponsored by the Executive Preparation Institute at the Center for Nonprofit Advancement. This experience allowed her to network and build her nonprofit knowledge base. Monique continues her service to nursing home residents as the volunteer facilitator of a monthly poetry club and member of the J.B. Johnson Nursing Center Resident Community Advisory Board.
