Michael supports the LIFT-DC Program Team in training and developing LIFT coaches in order to continually improve the quality of service provided to our LIFT parent members. Through targeted training, collaborative coaching, and constructive communication, Michael works closely with coaches to ensure high quality and effective programming for parent members. In this role, Michael also works directly with parent members as a coach. This direct connection to the work of LIFT coaches informs the approach he takes when developing trainings and allows for the most relevant and effective best practices to be developed for, and with, LIFT coaches.
Michael LIFTs because he believes people should have agency in creating their pathway out of poverty. He sees the development of strong partnerships with parents as a foundational part of empowering them, their families, and their communities.
Before joining LIFT, Michael worked in education with a range of organizations including City Year, People Animals Love, and the AnBryce Foundation. Through various roles Michael has supported and trained educators, designed curriculum, worked directly with students, and developed strong relationships with parents and community stakeholders throughout DC.
Michael is originally from California and graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a degree in Literature and Education. In addition to his passion for education and social justice, Michael is an avid reader and loves the great outdoors.
