As a Development Associate on the National team based out of the LIFT-New York office, Charissa manages fundraising pipelines and supports events for the LIFT-New York and LIFT-DC regions. Prior to her role at National, Charissa first joined LIFT as the Development Associate at LIFT-Los Angeles. At LIFT-LA, Charissa supported the regional development team with donor stewardship, fundraising, grant management, digital content strategy, and special events.
Charissa LIFTs because she believes in the healing power of strong family ties and community support systems. Charissa is the proud legacy of parents and grandparents who bravely navigated their way out of poverty, and she hopes to help other families do the same.
Charissa began her career working in marketing and communications at the Museum of Modern Art, Viacom Vh1, and PR firms in New York and Paris. After graduating from Tufts University with a B.A. in American Studies and Communications and Media, Charissa’s love of community building and interest in owning her own coffee shop someday led her to work in specialty coffee in New York and Los Angeles for five years. In the aftermath of the 2016 Presidential election, Charissa pivoted once again, determined to apply her communications background to the nonprofit field. As such, Charissa became a volunteer and AmeriCorps VISTA Marketing and Communications Coordinator at the educational writing nonprofit 826LA before joining LIFT. At 826LA, Charissa wrote and executed all digital marketing and communications strategy for the organization.
Born and raised in Queens, New York, Charissa is thrilled to be back home in New York City after her adventures in southern California. She is equally obsessed with the KonMari method, coffee shops, her L.A. rescue pup Abby, and turning conversations from small talk to real talk as quickly as possible.
