Andrea supports the development work as a grant writer, working to gain support for LIFT’s work by telling our story and inspiring our partners. She LIFTs because she believes in the power of relationships and connections to help people reach their personal and financial goals.
After college, Andrea worked at City Year, an education non-profit, as an AmeriCorps member, tutoring and mentoring at-risk youth in Boston. After two years of service, she spent several years working on the Program Design and Evaluation team at City Year’s Headquarters, focused on family engagement and afterschool program design. Most recently, she received her MFA in Creative Writing at West Virginia University where she taught composition and creative writing classes, volunteered as an ESL instructor for adults, and published short stories, essays and poetry in various magazines. After graduating, she was eager to apply her writing skills to supporting under-served communities and found an excellent fit with LIFT!
Andrea is originally from Staten Island, NY. Once, when she was six, she got to drive the Staten Island Ferry.
