On February 26th the LIFT-Chicago region will hold its Second Annual Regional Summit. This Summit is an opportunity for LIFT’s 100+ student advocates, allies and partners from the greater Chicago area to further connect to each other and the larger anti-poverty movement. This year’s Summit theme is “Problem Solving Across Systems”.

LIFT will engage Summit participants in constructive discourse around poverty and the pressing challenges facing our communities, while working together to produce tangible solutions that will move us toward an opportunity society.

Molly Day, LIFT-Chicago Region Alum and Senior Analyst for New Profit, Inc. will deliver the keynote address. Following our keynote will be a morning of breakout sessions focusing on macro-level approaches to combating poverty led by local non-profit leaders. Among the topics available will be “Economic Empowerment and Financial Education”, “Youth Advocacy and Navigating the Legal System”, and “Impact of Micro-Loans on Impoverished Communities”.

The afternoon will involve an Open Space “Unconference” around the convening theme of “Creating an Opportunity Society”. The Open Space Unconference format creates space for peer-to-peer learning, collaboration and creativity by throwing the typical rules of a conference out the window. At the start, the whole group will gather together and be guided through creating our own agenda for the afternoon. Everyone will equally participate in conversations, problem solving, and contributing ideas to support creating an opportunity society in America.

We’ll gather at Corboy Law Center in Kasbeer Hall on Loyola University of Chicago’s Water Tower Campus. Please contact us for more information or to participate in the LIFT-Chicago Regional Summit. ”
