Nelson James will be recognized for her outstanding leadership as Executive Director of LIFT-DC and her previous work with KIPP-DC and Operation Understanding. In her short time at LIFT-DC, she has already made significant strides to improve LIFT-DC’s program performance and cultivated local philanthropic support to combat poverty in the District.
Invited guest speakers include Adrian Fenty, Mayor, District of Columbia, James H. Shelton III, Assistant Deputy Secretary for Innovation and Improvement, U.S. Department of Education, and Arne Duncan, U.S. Secretary of Education.
The award ceremony will take place. September 29 at 6:30 p.m. at the JW Marriott, 1331 Pennsylvania Ave NW.
