Because CentroNía works to provide services in a bilingual, multicultural environment, the new LIFT site will be supervised by bilingual Site Coordinator Brian Marroquín and staffed by trained, Spanish-speaking volunteers from neighboring colleges to serve the predominantly Hispanic population in Columbia Heights. The Columbia Heights office is excited to offer specialized services to a new client demographic, and is also eager to work with additional universities in the District to recruit volunteers and establish university partnerships to better serve LIFT clients seeking assistance.
The LIFT-DC, Columbia Heights site will join LIFT-DC’s site at the Perry School Community Service’s Center to serve District residents. Last year, LIFT volunteers at the Perry School center served over 920 clients and LIFT-DC is anticipating significant growth in the number of Washingtonians served with the addition of the new Columbia Heights center.
