LIFT Welcomes Rael Nelson James, LIFT-DC's New Executive Director

LIFT is thrilled to introduce Raël Nelson James as the newest addition to the LIFT team, where she will serve as the Executive Director for LIFT-DC.
As LIFT's newest Regional Executive Director, Raël will be charged with overseeing the operations at two LIFT local sites and developing a vibrant team of staff members and local university student volunteers. She will also lead the growth of LIFT-DC's programs by managing current partners, attracting new funding sources, working with local universities, expanding LIFT-DC's local visibility and recognition, and serving as an external spokesperson for LIFT in Washington, D.C.
LIFT-DC Expands to Columbia Heights Neighborhood

LIFT-DC will serve hundreds of additional Washington, DC individuals and families in 2010 with its recent expansion into the Columbia Heights neighborhood in the city. LIFT-DC, Columbia Heights opened its doors at the beginning of March and is currently providing free social services to residents in the area.
LIFT-DC, Columbia Heights has partnered with CentroNía, a nationally recognized, award-winning charter school and educational organization that provides education, professional development and family-support services for families in the District, to provide on-site services Washington-area families and parents of CentoNía’s charter school students.
CharityWorks selects LIFT as 2010 Partner

CharityWorks has chosen LIFT as one of its key partners in 2010. Each year, CharityWorks unites corporate leaders, donors, and volunteers in dynamic partnerships with up to two high-performing nonprofits to provide meaningful, lasting impact on the Washington, DC community. This year, CharityWorks will support LIFT's efforts to combat poverty on the homefront, while also supporting the Injured Marines Semper Fi Fund and its work to help military families manage the challenges of combat injuries.
