"Working at LIFT has given me an unstoppable desire to continue to fight poverty and strive for ideals that I have come to value as a student advocate."
Early in her career as a student at UPenn, Danielle Bainbridge was looking for a way to get directly involved in the Philadelphia community, because, as she says, she was "beginning to suspect that there was, in fact, life outside Penn's campus." She wanted to make a serious commitment and take on a lot of responsibility, and soon discovered LIFT-Philadelphia.
Danielle has worked with clients to create resumes, secure housing, and she recently helped a widow file her taxes on her own for the first time. Danielle is continually moved by the "gratitude and genuine happiness" that clients convey to her and she derives a sense of strength and confidence in her advocate service that grows with every meeting. She says, "Working at LIFT has given me an unstoppable desire to continue to fight poverty and to strive for ideals that I have come to value as a student advocate."
