PHILADELPHIA VOLUNTEERS

LIFT-Philadelphia recruits volunteers from the University of Pennsylvania, Temple University, Drexel University, Messiah College, St. Joseph’s University, and LaSalle University.  Volunteers come from a variety of backgrounds, as well as a broad range of academic majors including Accounting, Sociology, Marketing, Biology, Urban Studies, and Hospitality Management.

Volunteers receive extensive training at the beginning of their service term and complete a minimum of 10 hours of shadowing prior to independent client service; additionally, volunteers attend weekly ongoing trainings throughout the academic year to improve their service delivery.  They are required to dedicate three to ten hours per week to client service.  LIFT-Philadelphia also provides additional leadership opportunities through its Student Director positions and leadership teams. Specific areas for managerial roles include community outreach, fundraising, client service supervision, and training.
