Lauersen and Sinha will begin their two-year term with LIFT-Philadelphia as a Site Coordinator on July 26, supported by a generous grant from AmeriCorps*National Direct. They will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the North Philadelphia Office and managing the corps of college student volunteers providing services to low-income individuals and families. They will also help ensure that LIFT clients receive quality services for employment, housing, public benefits, and referrals, and work with a network of Philadelphia agencies to build a better safety net for those clients.
Lauersen, a native of Philadelphia, is a recent graduate of Emory University in Atlanta, GA where she majored in Psychology and French. She served on the Executive Board of the Emory Help Line during her undergraduate career. She also worked as a research assistant in a psychology lab and spent a semester abroad in Paris, France. She was also an active member in her sorority, Sigma Delta Tau and interned at Big Brothers/Big Sisters in Philadelphia as an evaluation intern. She hopes to obtain her MSW and pursue a career in social work. Sinha is a recent graduate of the University of Michigan where she earned a dual degree in English Literature and Psychology. Sinha has spent the past four years living in Ann Arbor, MI and volunteering within the Detroit Metro community. During her undergraduate career, she was dedicated to working with underserved populations, with an interest in incarcerated individuals. Additionally, she has worked with children with learning disabilities and takes interest in mental health issues facing people of all ages.
