Maureen Fisher, Program Coordinator for Student Activities at Temple, said that out of 250 student organizations, throughout the year LIFT “did an excellent job” honoring what it means to be a student organization on Temple’s campus, including demonstrating strong work ethic, determination, and commitment to personal purpose as well as the overall mission of the University.
LIFT-Philadelphia officially became a student organization at Temple University last year, serving as an extension of the LIFT-Philadelphia North Office and led by the student directors of the office. Over the course of the year, LIFT-Philadelphia has coordinated and presented two major events including a panel of local community leaders on poverty in Philadelphia, and Philadelphia 4000, a night of homelessness awareness.
LIFT-Philadelphia Site Coordinator Ashley Gunn says of the award, "We are so proud of our student leadership team and volunteers. In addition to the hours they serve within the office providing one-on-one assistance to low-income community members, they have also served the Temple community and brought awareness of these issues to other Temple students. This award is a perfect reflection of the hard work and dedication to our mission that they have shown throughout the year. It has been an honor to work alongside such enthusiastic and committed student leaders."
