LIFT-Philadelphia client Angela Allen brought down the house with her personal story of challenges and triumphs and how LIFT-Philadelphia impacted her life. With humor and grace, Angela told the audience how LIFT volunteers connected her to stimulus funds to manage her mortgage payments, helped her access supplemental food assistance and healthcare, refreshed her resume so that she could obtain a new job in the catering industry, and turned her outlook on life around. Perhaps most moving was Angela's clear pride in her acceptance into the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital nursing program to fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse, with the help of LIFT-Philadelphia volunteers.
