The theme for this year's conference will be "Crossing Boundaries Through Partnership" and the event will cover topics such as multiculturalism and diversity; race, class, and gender dynamics; and equity issues in campus-community partnership.
As a conference participant, LIFT-Philadelphia will present its model to show how institutions of higher education and community organizations can work together to provide meaningful services to their surrounding community. Additionally, it will show how community service work is instrumental in developing future leaders that can tackle larger issues around social justice including diversity, racial and economic inequalities and institutional racism. LIFT-Philadelphia will use volunteer and alumni testimonials to highlight how the volunteer experience has affected them, in addition to providing numbers and statistics about how LIFT's work has made a positive contribution and impact on the Philadelphia community. LIFT will also provide tools and best practices to workshop attendees that will assist them in implementing similar programs.
