LIFT-Philadelphia is proud to welcome Kelly Lauersen and Anisha Sinha as its newest Site Coordinators.  Lauersen will serve in LIFT-Philadelphia's North Office and Anisha Sinha will serve in the West Office.

On June 28th, LIFT-Philadelphia reached a significant milestone in its fight against poverty.  In less than one year LIFT-Philadelphia provided more than 2,000 clients with crucial tools to overcome unemployment, inadequate housing, and financial instability despite the volatile state of the national and local Philadelphia economy.  This achievement is a clear reflection of LIFT-Philadelphia’s commitment to expand its volunteer base, demonstrated through new partnerships with Drexel, St. Joseph’s, and LaSalle Universities, and its commitment to improve community awareness with the hiring of its Community Outreach Coordinator.

Congratulations to all of LIFT-Philadelphia’s staff and volunteers, and here’s to continued successes in the year to come!

The Office of Student Activities and Office of Leadership Development at Temple University honored LIFT-Philadelphia's North Office with the Student Organization of the Year award. LIFT was selected for its adherence to campus policies, the events it produced and held on campus, and for volunteers' activity and enthusiasm throughout the year.

The award was presented to three representatives from LIFT-Philadelphia at the Temple University Student Center on Tuesday, May 4^th at 6:00pm during the Office of Student Activities and Office of Leadership Development Student Activities Awards.

On April 22nd, LIFT-Philadelphia hosted Philadelphia 4000, a collaborative event designed to call attention to the fact that on any given night in Philadelphia, 4,000 people are homeless, and that action must be taken to tackle the issue of homelessness in the Philadelphia community.

LIFT-Philadelphia welcomed noted author, psychotherapist, and social work activist SaraKay Smullens and the presentation of her recent published work on the categories and manifestations of emotional abuse on Wednesday, April 22^nd.  The presentation, for LIFT-Philadelphia staff, volunteer leadership, and guests, took place at 2:30pm at YouthBuild Charter School, 1231 N. Broad Street in Philadelphia.

LIFT-Philadelphia hosted its first Spring Celebration on April 1, 2010 at the Racquet Club of Philadelphia and welcomed over 130 guests to celebrate LIFT's impact in the Philadelphia community.  Fred and Suzie Fletcher served as hosts for the evening and promoted the importance of LIFT-Philadelphia's work to provide hope and purpose for families in Philadelphia, as well as the need for support from the Philadelphia community to sustain and expand LIFT's work.

LIFT-Philadelphia will be participating at the 2010 Annual Philadelphia Higher Education Network for Neighborhood Development (PHENND) Conference on Friday, April 16, 2010 at Arcadia University in Glenside, PA.
