LIFT

CharityWorks has chosen LIFT as one of its key partners in 2010.  Each year, CharityWorks unites corporate leaders, donors, and volunteers in dynamic partnerships with up to two high-performing nonprofits to provide meaningful, lasting impact on the Washington, DC community.  This year, CharityWorks will support LIFT's efforts to combat poverty on the homefront, while also supporting the Injured Marines Semper Fi Fund and its work to help military families manage the challenges of combat injuries.

CNN will broadcast a special feature about LIFT as part of its “Leaders with Heart” series on its HLN network. The story will focus on LIFT’s work to combat poverty in the United States and the role that strong leadership has played in contributing to LIFT’s success since 1998.

LIFT's Kirsten Lodal has been selected as a nominee for The DVF Awards “People’s Voice” Award. She will be competing to win a $50,000 award in support of LIFT's work to provide opportunities for countless numbers of people living in poverty and to inspire others to fight for the rights of the poor.

LIFT will provide free tax preparation services beginning February 1, 2010, where trained LIFT volunteers will be available to help community members across the country prepare tax returns electronically and identify their eligibility for tax credits such as the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).

LIFT-Cambridge and LIFT-Somerville will provide free tax preparation services beginning February 1, 2010, where IRS VITA certified LIFT volunteers will be available to help Cambridge and Somerville community prepare tax returns electronically and identify their eligibility for tax credits.
