LIFT centers in Boston, Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC are available to work with local residents to access fuel assistance resources, such as the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), programs that offer fuel delivery to families in need, and utility discounts for persons already receiving public benefits.
LIFT centers are also available to help residents apply through their utility providers for utility shutoff protection. Shutoff protection is generally available November through March to eligible families, who may include: senior households, low-income families with infants, people with serious illnesses who cannot afford to pay their utility bills, tenants whose landlords are responsible for utility bills, and low-income people who would be without heat during the winter.
