LIFT is a growing movement to combat poverty and expand opportunity for all people in the United States. LIFT currently runs centers staffed by trained volunteers in Boston, Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC, to serve low-income individuals and families.
LIFT clients and volunteers work one-on-one to find jobs, secure safe and stable housing, make ends meet through public benefits and tax credits, and obtain quality referrals for services like childcare and healthcare. Simultaneously, the LIFT experience pushes volunteers to grapple with our country's most challenging issues related to poverty, race, inequality, and policy. Since LIFT's founding, over 5,000 volunteers have served more than 30,000 individuals and families.
Program Manager
Location: Bronx, NY
LIFT is in the midst of substantial, long-term national expansion in five major regions and we’re looking for a dynamic, talented leader to implement our programming, grow our local presence and achieve huge impact in New York. The Program Manager is responsible for supervising the operations of LIFT New York’s local site in the Bronx. He/She will directly manage all program delivery and client services and will directly oversee Americorps staff members and university student volunteers.
Simultaneously, the Program Manger will serve as a visible spokesperson and advocate for LIFT in the community, creating partnerships with a diverse array of constituent groups including human service providers, university partners and government agencies. The Program Manager will set ambitious goals for LIFT’s impact and will lead performance evaluation at the site level. The Program Manager will report to the Vice President of Programs in LIFT’s national office in Washington, D.C.
Summer Fellow
LIFT seeks driven and independent leaders to serve as Summer Fellows in our eight local offices. Summer Fellows work one-on-one with low-income community members (LIFT clients) to find jobs, secure housing, enroll in public benefits, and help these community members obtain referrals for services like childcare and healthcare. Summer Fellows are also responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of LIFT. We look for individuals who are passionate about community development and are committed to LIFT’s anti-poverty mission. Summer Fellows will report to their respective LIFT Site Coordinators.
This position is available at our following local office locations: Boston, MA (Cambridge, Somerville); Chicago, IL (Chicago, Evanston); New York, NY (The Bronx); Philadelphia, PA (North Philadelphia, West Philadelphia); and Washington, DC.
Exxon Mobil CSJP Internship - Communications & Media Intern - Summer 2010
Location: Washington, DC
LIFT is currently seeking a driven, self-motivated, and enthusiastic individual to serve as a Communications and Media Intern in LIFT’s National Office in Washington, DC in Summer 2010.
The intern will be part of the ExxonMobil Community Summer Jobs Program (CSJP) through Volunteer Fairfax. Interns will work 35 hours per week for a period of eight weeks.
LIFT-Somerville Administrative Internship

LIFT-Somerville is seeking a responsible and organized intern to provide administrative and office support for our Student Advocate team. As an intern you will have exposure to client service, volunteer management and fundraising.
