LIFT-Chicago Welcomes Sol Anderson as Regional Program Manager

Monday, November 28 2011

LIFT-Chicago is thrilled to announce that Sol Anderson will be joining our team as the Regional Program Manager.  Sol comes to LIFT-Chicago with over 10 years experience supporting underserved communities.

SolAndersonSol has been in the LIFT-Chicago universe through his current role as the Youth Engagement/Services Coordinator for the City of Evanston.  In this role Sol has been involved with Evanston’s Local Area Network (LAN).  The LAN is a DCFS and ISBE (Ill State Board of Ed) funded initiative to increase agency collaboration and provide high-needs families with goods, wrap-around services and program referrals.  Sol is a co-convener of the LAN, and also a member of its Wraparound/Screening committee which distributes LAN funds to community members in need.

Sol has worked for the City of Evanston in his current role for the past five years.  Prior to coming to Chicago Sol tutored youth, counseled youth and families in anger management and conflict resolution, and worked with job seekers in a one-stop employment services center in Lansing, Michigan.  Additionally Sol has extensive experience working with college-aged students and currently sits on the Evanston Advisory Board of the Northwestern University Center for Civic Engagement.  Sol earned a Bachelor of Arts with Honors from Michigan State University where he majored in Social Relations, and a Master of Business Administration from Michigan State’s Eli Broad Graduate School of Management.

Sol truly embodies LIFT’s value of collaboration; he looks forward to building off his work in the Evanston community and shepherding LIFT’s deepened impact throughout the Chicago region.  “Sol comes on board at perhaps the most critical moment in LIFT-Chicago’s history,” Said Ben Reuler, LIFT-Chicago’s Executive Director.  “We are seeing unprecedented numbers of community members in need as well as volunteers wishing to engage with LIFT; the time is Now to invest in a talented Program Manager and Sol is without question the person for the job.  I told him to rest up because he’s going to have his work cut out for him!”
