LIFT-Chicago Expands Into Pilsen Neighborhood

LIFT-Chicago will serve hundreds of additional Chicago individuals and families in 2010 with its recent expansion into the West Side of the city.  LIFT-Chicago, Pilsen opened its doors at the close of February and is currently providing free social services to West Side residents.

LIFT-Chicago, Pilsen will operate out of the new Chicago Workforce Center and work with several city and state agencies in the center to serve individuals and families in need.

The new site will be supervised by Site Coordinator Antonica James and staffed by trained volunteers from neighboring colleges. The Pilsen office is eager to work with the University of Chicago to recruit volunteers and establish university partnerships to better serve LIFT clients seeking assistance.

The LIFT-Chicago, Pilsen site will join LIFT-Chicago, Uptown to serve Chicago residents. Last year, the Uptown center served over 670 clients and LIFT-Chicago is anticipating significant growth in the number of Chicagoans served with the addition of the new Pilsen center.
